Arsenal are reportedly being prevented from formalising their interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak as they cannot afford his asking price.

According to the , Isak’s representatives are aware of the interest from north London. It is, however, being claimed that Arsenal do not have the funds to finance what would be a British transfer record deal — one worth more than the £115 million ($141m) than Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo in 2023.
The Gunners are not under any threat from Financial Fair Play (FFP) or Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), but need to ensure that they adhere to those regulations. With that in mind, no offers for Isak — in January or the summer of 2025 — will be possible unless there is a significant departure first that generates a sizeable fee and clears a big wage off the books.
Newcastle have no intention of parting with Isak anyway, as they have him tied to a contract through to 2028, and insist that no price tag has been placed on a Sweden international that they hope to see enjoy a bright long-term future at St James’ Park.
